I spent a short portion of my dealer-night last Thursday adding a little more of my signature look to my booth space. I am wanting it to stand out more, and for a long while I have pondered just exactly how to do this. Then, a few months back I got an idea.
The side walls that divide our booth spaces on my particular aisle do not go as high as the others, and it makes a visual difference,(To me anyway.) because the walls are very tall in this old building. I decided that I wanted to move the ladder going across the back of my booth space to the front, making more of an entrance, or statement that you had arrived at my space.
I got permission from the manager first of course, and then set out to find some identically sized crates to help with my plan.
I nailed gunned the crates in place for stability, and then put the ladder up front.
I liked it.
The next step was to add my book page border to make it really appear as an entrance. This took me a lot longer to get around to, because the first time I was ready to do it, I forgot my extension cord for my electric staple gun. The second time, someone else was doing a major overhaul in their booth, and the ladder wasn't available. (I needed to do this after hours so I wouldn't be in the way of shoppers, and the noise wouldn't bother anyone.)Truth be told, I was a little apprehensive to do the border up there, for fear it might be too busy, and just...too much.
Anyway.
Finally, last Thursday, I got my act together, and within ten minutes of starting my project, I had my scalloped book page border in place. I hung my sign, and stepped back to take it in.
It was exactly the look I was after.
Now, I am debating on whether or not to leave the ladder shelf empty up top there, or add a bunch of various sized paper lanterns, either to coordinate with the seasons, or in may neutrals. (burlap, white glitter, Robins egg blue and cream)What do you think? Will that be too busy and take away from the booth itself, or could it be the icing on the cake, as they say? Should I keep the sign I have made, or make a longer one on a painted board? Help me out with your two cents, please!
