Thank you all soooo much for the supportive and inspiring comments this past weekend. It means more than I can say. Really. My heart is so full, knowing how many friends I have. You guys are the best.
Yesterday I had the newlyweds, the Sewing Queen, the Maid-of-Honor and the boyfriend over for my first ever BBQ in my cottage backyard.
The Sewing Queen graciously gave me her BBQ, pointing out that she hasn't used it in two years. She didn't have to offer it to me twice. I gratefully accepted and we were set for some mighty fine BBQ.
My wicker isn't wicker at all- it's this new resin "Faux wicker" that's out everywhere, and it looks just like the real deal, but it's weather proof! I love the look of it, and it's comfy too.
The patio is still a work in progress, with cushions for the wicker set to still be sewn, and old-new-to-me wooden furniture pieces that still need to be antiqued, but all in all, it's coming along nicely. Very cottage-y, and welcoming. It's home, all right.
Here's my thrifted el cheapo ($20 and already painted with an antique look!) new-to-me garden hutch. Perfect for a potting table and storage, and also as a beverage bar during entertaining. Gotta love this! I worked and lived in my backyard all weekend, doing clean up and planting some flowers, enjoying the space... it was a great time for reflecting and rejuvenating my spirit.
*sigh* Having my family around, cooking and enjoying the garden. Now, that's what I call a perfect weekend. I hope your long weekend was all you hoped for too.
