When it comes to decorating my cottage home, I much prefer to have one of a kind items, whether they be handmade or thrifted, to feather my nest. (Although I will admit I have a bit of a thing for TJ Maxx, but that doesn't really count, 'coz it's like a treasure hunt in that place..)
These fabulous barkcloth pillows are the perfect example of what I mean. I saw them on Dawn's Blog and I fell in love with them. The colors were perfect for my cottage, and the natural texture of the fabric added a homey feel. To make the deal even sweeter, the pillows inside the wonderful shams are feather, which is just so yummy. The best part of all though, is having a story, some history to go along with the treasures. These charming pillows will forever be the "handmade from a really talented girl in Georgia who has a shop and a Blog" pillows in my cottage.
I love knowing it's handmade, and feeling like I have a sense of that real person that lovingly made the item. It's easy to see that they are indeed lovingly made. The floral patterns on both pillows are painstakingly placed in exactly the same position, and the corners of the edges of the pillows are ever so slightly gathered.
Mmm hmm, look at the darling back side of the pillows. Such attention to detail. For gosh sakes, even the price tag is precious. (Can you stand it?!)
I guess what I'm saying is that this all goes right back to living a beautiful life. Every time I look at these dear pillows I feel a little warm fuzzy feeling..
*sigh* I think it's called contentment.
