COST INVOLVED IN THRIFTING:
Getting out of bed at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning and snagging a few bargains in someone's drive way: $30. (Plus a free print)
Gas to drive to above driveways at the crack of dawn (Big car, great for storage, hard on gas): $8
Stopping when we are done thrifting at Krispy Kreme for 2 donuts and a 2% milk each: $6(We forgot our calendar coupons)
Laughing my head off with one of my bestest friends: priceless.
Last Saturday we were only out thrifting for about an hour an a half total, because it was a holiday weekend, and there were just not as many sales as there usually are. We especially wanted to go because we won't be going for the next four Saturdays. Next Saturday we will both be working at a Charity yard sale, (where workers get first dibs on items for sale!!) and then the Navigator will be out of town for three weeks.
Here's a classy silver plate tea (coffee?)set I snagged, at the very first stop.( $15- higher than I wanted to pay, yes, but... I got a free art print with purchase, to hang on my garage workshop wall, thankyouverymuch) I like the nice tailored lines and simplicity of it. I have named it my "company comes to breakfast Coffee set" 'coz it just looks so--- oh...continental, I guess is the word I am searching for.
In between company actually coming to breakfast, I am using the tray as a vanity tray in my bathroom and it looks divine there, I tell ya.
The other fabulous find of the day was this over-the-top-way-too-perfect-for-me-to-not-buy-it chandelier. The paint current job really isn't me. Not to worry. I am painting it up right away, and this baby will be making an appearance in my soon-to-be-decorated-workroom/home office, front and center. Mmm hmm, you'll see it hanging there, in all it's majesty, in a week or so. (A coat of spray Kilz, followed by tobacco colored glaze) It's going to make. the. room. I get a warm fuzzy feeling, just thinking about it. Really.
Oh, how I love Saturdays.
