The wedding cake topper and Christmas ornaments weren't the only things I got last Saturday. I also got a patio table and chair set (I have a naked patio sense the move, and I just can't pay, I won't pay retail for a new one, no matter how cute it may be) and the most adorable folding screen.
It was a wheat-like yellow when I found it Saturday, and I had visions of it in my bedroom. The color seemed perfect, and I love the arched shape and appliqué details. Well, it didn't work out at all in the bedroom, and for a moment I panicked, feeling enormous buyers remorse.
Then it struck me. It might be just the most perfect accent in the large dining room, behind my wonderful thrifted reading chair. I dragged it to the dining room and tried it out. Perfect. But the color...not so much.
Then, I had an epiphany. Out to the garage, and some black spray primer. Then a coat of eggshell black paint. Now, the fabulous wheat colored screen is black. And perfect. I love it, I love it. I. Love. It. (remember the corner of the room without the screen?)
*sigh* Oh, taking a discarded and thrifted item and creating something useful and beautiful out of it is such a satisfying thing.
