I told you it ran in the family, the decorating, cottage-ey, collecting, nesting kind of thing. Well, here is a shot from where my Mom (the Sewing Queen) lives.
Her little place is very English cottage, all in shades of pinks, corals and greens, but it wasn't always like this.
It was incredibly dark when she bought it, and needed lots of updating! It had great bones as they say, and so we set to work, painting and papering. (by the way, I would have posted many more pictures, but the sewing Queen is smack in the middle of making my chair slipcovers and she has fabric, the ironing board, threads, and sewing notions everywhere! I will see what I can do about clearing up a room or two to share with you...)
Now it is too charming for words. Plantation shutters have replaced the heavy layer upon layer of old draperies, giving it a fresh new look. We stenciled above a couple of the windows, both in the dining room and the living room. You like?
