It's finally that time of year. When a middle aged woman's heart turns to thoughts of finding that elusive diamond in the rough...the weathered hutch that would make a perfect potting bench slash buffet server for backyard barbecues...the Gawd-awful old seventies artwork housed in an incredible ornate frame, just waiting to be re-invented.
This past Saturday I spent the entire day thrifting with four other gals, all in one mini-van. Each time we would stop we would all tumble out of the car at such break neck speed, one of my girlfriends commented that we surely looked like a carload of clowns in a circus show.
I think she was right.
So fun.
I ended up with the treasures you see above... a Pampered Chef apple corer-peeler for three bucks (a major score!) and a chopping block with cute little bun feet. A mirror for my collection in the family room. Some vintage plastic deer (wait until you see what I do with them....)A cake pan, some holiday poppers and Christmas coasters, and six white heart shaped ramekins.
Oh! And some earings.
Some great treats, but by far, the best part of the day was spending time (it turned into an all day event..) with kindred spirits. Like minded souls that see life through the same rose colored glasses as I do....looking for the deal of the day, feeling the thrill of a discovering a buried treasure, unearthed in a driveway.
Good, good times.

Very nice score, the apple peeler-corer w/stand alone runs over $50 new. Great for homemade apple pie. Ya know what they say about apple pie and ice cream, lol!!!
I especially like the mirror though, great frame. What is the blue rolly thing on the bottom right?

The pale blue things are party poppers. My family uses them each Christmas, and the color was perfect...and the price was great! ONE DOLLAR!

Tracey, that is a great score. I have the Pampered Chef apple peeler/corer and it is great. Love the heart-shaped ramikens. Gma Sue

Those are some great finds. I'll have to keep an eye out for an apple peeler/corer. Good for you! Love your blog.

Sounds like a perfect Saturday! I'm sure you'll put your haul to good use. I'm guessing little glitter reindeer? I love those darn things. I line a couple of them on each of my window sashes and put a brush bottle tree in the middle. In the winter that is.
I'd like to include you on my list of blogs I follow. Your blog is what got me started reading blogs way back when. Anyway, if it's alright with you, when I get finished soakings my head under the shower due to being blog ignorant and drive myself more crazy I'll get right on it. This could take awhile.

Oh what fun. I haven't done that with my friends in way too long. Great treasures too. Love the plastic reindeer. I only have a couple, but am always on the lookout for them. Anxious to see what you do with them
Mine go under a cloche with bottlebrush trees and snow.
Now, I have to go plan a day with friends to go thrifting.
