Let me begin by sharing what I am sure you already knew, the fact that yesterday was National Pancake Day. (A holiday I am quite sure was created by the good people from IHOP.) In honor of this, we cozied up at the kitchen counter and had Ralph's favorite...breakfast for dinner. (complete with pancakes, of course.) I share this because it seemed appropriate, since today I am showing the kitchen remodel. (For those of you that missed National Pancake Day Twenty-Twelve, mark your calendars for next year so you don't miss out.)
Now, on with the kitchen re-do details.
I was going to to start off by saying that we really didn't do much with the kitchen during the whirlwind remodel, but that's not true at all. It just doesn't seem as extreme of a difference as some of the other rooms...at first glance.(Don't ask me why I didn't get any decent actual true "Before" pictures. I don't know. I do have this one, which is kinda sorta before they started doing too much of the demo (As you can see, we still hadn't even taken down my cute window valance yet)....you can see the old Parquet flooring, dishwasher, and the innards of the older florescent lighting up above in the ceiling...(The ceiling had florecent light panels with plastic covering them in an oak frame that we had sheet rocked in and added can lights for a more modern look.)
and a bit further along...
The cabinets remained the same, but the flooring was replaced... ...as well as the refridgerator and dishwasher. (The range had been replaced last summer after a rather spark-filled incedient involving a large pot of oil with a leak and an electric burner...)
(Ignore the spatula and dishes on the counter...I didn't even realize they were there until I looked at these pictures later) Oh, and I know it's a lousy picture of my window treatment but, I ordered my valance from Country Curtains, and I have to say, they are really nicely made.
The fridge is our favorite new toy, with a deli drawer and a little bell that tingla-lingle-lings if you walk off and leave the door hanging open for too long. Did I tell you yet how crazy in love I am with the new wood flooring? Truly, madly, deeply.
Really.
Next up on the ren-no tour...the living room!

The ceiling and the floor look great! I've been buying curtains from Country Curtains forever. I love their black and white check curtains. How exciting to work on this project together.

I love the way you are doing things here, Tracey. The flooring is soooo pretty! Can't help but think how nice (and light) those cupboards would look with your glazing/antiquing technique on them. The floor would 'pop' all the more. Just l.o.v.e. what you've done with the place!

Oh, I TOTALLY agree with you on the cupboards popping if I were to paint them white!!!! I do share the kitchen (and the rest of our home!) with Ralph though, and I have to take things a little slower with him. Hes a guy that isnt so much a fan of change, adn hes been such a team player so far with all of this that I dont want to freak him out! LOL! Slow and steady...baby steps... :-)

I LOVE the flooring! Do you know what the make and model number it is? I am looking for something similar. Thanks for sharing your re-do photos.

The flooring is Chilean Cherry Engineered Hardwood flooring. We bought it off Craigslist from a flooring place in Newberg called Decca Flooring...hope that helps some!
