Oh, the wonders a girl can work with a little creativity and a splash of paint.
I found two matching 70's maple night tables at a thrift store a few weeks ago.
They were in great working condition, but they looked out dated and the tops were scratched. I removed the pulls, then primed the drawers and body.
Two coats of paint (because I was doing a charcoal black shade, mainly.)Viola'!
Reborn with a basic Pottery Barn look...all set to re-invent someone's bedroom, and it cost less than $25 to do both night tables, start to finish, including my purchase price of $12 per night table. You just can't beat that.

Amazing!! What an eye you have; I would never have seen my way out of the 70s with those nightstands!!!
Great job! Thanks for sharing and inspiring me!

They look so fresh! Great transformation. You should share this Friday on Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Friday party.

Can't beat that with a stick! Looks great. I've been so inspired to paint some furniture. Just got to make myself get started.

I would love to rejuvenate some of my own 70s pieces. No, I didn't thrift them, I just still have them! I've always been afraid to paint wood, as it's been drummed into my dead since childhood..."Oh, no! Never paint that! It's oak ..or maple or mahogany, etc...!" When you do paint them, do you use a brush or roller or a sponge applicator or sprayer? How do you get it looking so NICE?!?!?

....I brush my pieces...I use Behr
Paint from Home Depot. (Oh, and I never have ANY fear of painting old
wood from the 70s! LOL!)

I wouldn't have been able to see my way past the 70's beat-up wood. Now I have something else that I can thrift, as I try to feather my still-too-empty nest.

Beautiful as always Tracey. I just score a small-scale armoire at a rummage sale yesterday for $20 (they wante $40). It has slide out shelves (or shallow drawers) that are the perfect size for my scrapbooking paper.
I am planning to turn it from an icky beat up piece of furniture into a masterpiece of a craft storage unit! I will do with the help of Tracey's "how to" on furniture.

Oh NO! not those maple end tables again! Just kidding, I know you are super busy and going in a million directions. They are fabulous. Miss Mustard Seed is using some new Annie Sloan chalk paints that make refinishing even more streamlined. You should take a look. Take care, Holley

Did you strip them before you put the primer on? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I have zero knowledge of painting and I'd love to do something like that to a piece of furniture I own.
Thanks!
