Mmm hmm. I am going to be officially all the way moved out of my last place tonight when I slide into bed, and I am ready to begin nesting at my cozy-sized new lil home. I've managed to already get three rooms settled- the half bath, the main bath and the laundry room...er...closet.
Interesting, I went from this Laundry Room to this one and now, to this one in my newest place. When you do laundry for only one person (plus a big yellow dog) you don't need the hooba-booba of laundry rooms like I had back in the day. (Wow. That seems like a million and two years ago, now that I look back.)
I love that the laundry closet is upstairs near my bedroom, and I love that it has such a nice bright light when I need it as I spot clean things.(Still, I may add a sweet lil' lamp for pure ambiance for myself like I did in my cottage on Norman Drive.) Okay, that's about all that I love about it so far. The walls are glaringly white, and I so wish I could warm them up with some paint, but I can't, so I will just have to figure something else out. (And I will.) In the meantime, it looks like me (although I am pretty sure I will be doing something more colorful and creative with my W A S H Letters at some point...) and it is ready to do it's job, and that is a very good start.

Paint those letters candy apple red, It would be adorable.

I have light envy. ;-) I think I should put something above my washer/dryer which is stuck in a dark area in my basement. I love seeing what you do. :-)

Would they let you paint it a warmer white or ivory? Sometimes a landlord will be happy to let you paint if it's neutral...saves them the money & time later!

How about your signature book pages on the walls!

Fabric, fabric, fabric! That shelf is crying out to be draped. And art! I know you're into the neutral beige/brown decor lately, but this room needs COLOR!!!! Black/white toile and a pop of RED or LIME GREEN!
Go bold!

What a cute little nook! It almost makes me want to do laundry...
We're in a no paint apartment too, and I'm seriously considering contact papering the walls, or using some liquid starch to put some fabric up :)
Can't wait to see what you do.

OR maybe you could paint it if you promised to paint it BACK before you leave. But I'm definitely borrowing the picnic basket and the WASH letters idea ;)

You could make curtains from some beautiful fabric and hang from the ceiling to the floor instead of paint and still hang pictures over them..I seen it somewhere just can't remember,LOL..All you need to hang them are eye hooks and some kind of heavy duty wire..then all you have to do if you move is fill in the little holes! Good luck..

Thanks for sharing pictures with us. I am eager to see what you decide to do to add some excitement to the room. I know whatever you decide, it will be incredible!

Maybe cover the letters with some of your famous book pages and then add a splash of black and white buffalo plaid somewhere.

I love pure white which is no help to you put you might get more shading in your white if you load the shelf with whit/off white products and baskets. Perhaps a touch of light sage green in soaps etc. If you are really desperate you probably could get away with a lick of paint in a slightly different white. I am sure the agents/owners wouldn't even notice. I love your W A S H letters BTW. Cherrie

Some landlords will let you paint as long as you agree to paint it back before you move. It never hurts to ask - all they can do is tell you No! Can't wait to see the next stop on your tour!

This is looking great! I looked back at your tomato red laundry room, but the second link did not work for me.

Just a random idea: you could find a fabric that you love, create a panel that would cover from the top of the wall to slightly below the tops of your washer & dryer & the full width of the closet, put a sleeve at the top and bottom of the fabric panel, use a tension rod through both sleeves & give your wall color (tension rod at the top of the wall & 2nd tension rod just below your washer & dryer top both rods flush against the back wall of the closet) I hope this makes sense as I can see it in my head but the words aren't quite translating the idea as well as I had hoped.

YES add a lamp! And you know what makes the perfect glow? I put one of the yellow bug light bulbs in my lamps that I want to have a cozy feel.
I have them all over the house and love them!
Have a pretty day!

Tracey,
I hope I'm wrong but my computer became infected after I tried to open your picture of your 2nd laudry room. A weird flickr screen opened and my screen saver disappeared. Just wanted to warn you.

Oooohhh, how I wish my laundry room looked that bright and pretty! However, with laundry for 6, that is only a dream. I did, however, manage to squeeze a small folding table in the corner and make a place (for the 1st time in my life!) to set up my sewing machine permanently! I am ecstatic about that! And I, too, shall "borrow" your W*A*S*H letter idea. Love it! Have a great day!

Even your wash looks cute! :o)

An idea just came into my head when I looked at that barren wall with the hoses sticking out, much like the wall I have in my laundry room. Why not get a beautiful piece of fabric, attach to a top and bottom tension rod and make a lovely wall covering without attaching too much to the wall. Did I explain that in a way you could understand? The fabric will cover the hoses wihtout making them inaccessible, and provide a lovely back wall. I'm on my way to get my tension rods right now!

It's so EASY. Black and white fabric hung with black clothespins, some photos of Edwardian women bending over washtubs...JUST DO IT!!!
Can't wait to the the afters! Good luck in your new place! Don't forget to hang a horseshoe over the door (upside down to collect all the luck!).

It may be pure white, but it already feels the Tracey Love! You're making this little rental feel special! I can't wait to see how you do things. I'll be downsizing into an apartment soon and I've already decided that if I get stuck with yucky kitchen cabinets, I will be covering the doors with your fabulous book pages/liquid starch. You are a huge inspiration to me, Tracey! Happy Thanksgiving!
