Where else can you see these kinds of random things on an afternoon out and about? (I guess that's why there is "Keep Portland Weird" huh?) A couple more interesting things spotted....extreme tube socks.. ...and seasonal decor for your ride (I'm not sure I could bring myself to ever do this,a s I would feel like I was gearing up to be in a parade)...
Portland eateries are always good...we ate here...
...and then we stopped in to see the most amazing shop. It was named "The Belfry" and the owner slash artist there was names Jane Clugston...she was off the charts on the creativity scale..
...Jane creates the most incredible and unique masks, and puppets... (Some were very macabre, others more whimsical, but all so life-like!)
She creates a mold by sculpting the figure, or face, and then pours a casting of it. Finally, she paints the up...so real looking and lifelike! She does fairy and butterfly wings as well... It was a very cool shop, and worth stopping by, if you're looking for a one of a kind mask for Halloween, Mardi Gras, or a masqurade event...or if you're into art, and enjoy chatting with a local artist, which I find fascinating...(Artistic folks seem to be so much more relaxed than the rest of us somehow, and they appear to see life without all of the complicated stuff the rest of us sometimes get too focused on...)
I can't resist sharing just one more picture from the art-car...how's about a close up of the side miror? Oh, ya. This guy's doing his part part to keep Portland weird, all right. You go Buddy.
Gawd, I love Portland.

I NEED those bacon socks!!!!

We here in the good old midwest would NEVER see anything like that on the road......maybe its time to stretch ourselves a bit and leave the haybales for a trip to the big city!

We recently went on a trip to the west coast, and Portland was definitely one of the most beautiful places we had stopped. It's a lovely place!

I live near Seattle and I've seen cars like that one in your photo. I wonder what they do when/if they need to sell it? But I'm just a practical prairie gal at heart. :)

I live in the Eugene/Springfield and we see a ton of "strange" automobiles. By far, the stangest was a convertible with troll dolls all over it, and I mean, all over it. And in great big letters it said PIMP MOBILE. Wonder how these people drive such a strange looking car.
Remember probably two years ago, you mentioned Moms Bistro or something like. You raved how good the food was. I tried it and it was simply fantastic. Believe me, there is a point to this. My niece is a newly hired employee at that place and is loving it. Stays busy all the time.

Actually.... I know a woman, (here in Chicagoland) who had a car covered in Happy Meal toys. Every inch. She is the principal for an alternative high school.
In Santa Barbara I saw a car similarly covered in shells.
All to say that there's creative souls everywhere, but Portland certainly has the reputation!

OMG!! And I thought the San Francisco Bay Area had the award for weird. You are giving us a run for the money.
The next time I'm in Portland I'm going to find The Belfry. That's my kind of store.
