I think the reason I am taking so very long to get myself unpacked is because I am much more into nesting than..unpacking. (Okay, let's say it. I am not into unpacking at all.) Each and every box seems to bring a new surprise; thrifted treasures I forgot about and inspiration for a new project. Once that happens, I feel compelled to do that project...right then.
That's what happened here in the kitchen, on the ledge above the one bank of cupboards. I found my small collection of rolling pins, and, well...I had to get the ladder, and find my old thrifted picnic baskets. The next thing I knew, 45 minutes had passed and the box the rolling pins had been in was still sitting on the floor waiting to be unpacked.(and after looking at these photos, I still may tweak this vignette a bit. I may change out my old bread pan up there for a tarnished silver tray, for a bit more formal look, if you can picture that.)
At this rate it really will be July before I am all the way unpacked, but I am having a ball making my new place mine.

Isn't this what it means to "enjoy the journey!" Sounds like the perfect way to make unpacking more fun-- even if it does take longer! :) I think you have it just right!!!!

Well, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one that gets sidetracked! It's the creativity that lives in our souls!!
Looking beautiful!
Still lovin' your blog and following your life and times!

I'll be moving again soon and I know exactly what you mean about getting sidetracked while unpacking. I will do the same thing, and it is such fun decorating a new space It's like starting a painting with a brand new canvas. Actually I'm going into an apartment that is built exactly like my present one, just downstairs rather than up. But, since living here I've said over and over, I would like to move that furniture to there, etc. but haven't yet. So when I make my move in the next few months, I'll make those changes too.

Sorry to be so long winded, but just want to say the vignette looks wonderful. Try the tray though as you mentioned, I think it might look even better. ♥

Cute! I need to re-do above my cabinets and you have just inspired me to put my grandma's muffin tins up there.

Sometimes getting sidetracked is really a few moments of feeding your soul! That creative moment hits are you are HELPLESS to fight it. It is strong...and who knows...it could pass, and you'd forget the amazing idea you had! Big smile. The boxes will get unpacked but at least the top of your shelf looks amazing and everytime you look up there you will be filled with happy thoughts!
Blessings,
Debbie

Is there really a rush? I think you should work YOUR process in your beautiful new home. Who cares if it doesn't match "the rules" that boxes need to be removed by such-and-such a date?

Oh take your time and enjoy every minute of it:) And then show us all the wonderful pictures like this one so we can enjoy it too!

I understand this completely! It's OK to "nest" while you unpack. Yes, it takes longer but when you're through you can really call it YOUR home. Don't spend one minute feeling guilty. You do this beautifully and you share it with all of us. It's wonderful.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions but...I like what you did ... I would leave the bread pan but switch out the white oval platter for a really cute vintage cookie jar. Enjoy the journey.

Isn't that part of the fun of moving to a new place, especially a new place you'll (fingers crossed) be for a good long time? I'm just enjoying what little vignettes you've created so far. Keep on with the nesting! It's all so lovely!

I didn't get a chance to comment on your livingroom photo Tracey and now with an added shot from your kitchen we can see a lovingly, "nested up home-in-the-makings".....you DO have 'the touch' Tracey; so "picture-perfect"!!
.....(and about that 'July comment' Tracey -- I don't believe it for a moment!) :o)
God Bless,
Barbra.

I don't know, there's some semblance of an "organized approach" to unpacking when you are actually getting things dealt with as you unpack them. Better in a box that will get your attention at some point than buried in a cupboard where you'll forget all about it.

Oh, I hear ya! I'm on a mission to re-organize & de-clutter my entire house. Of course, every box that I go through has some cute thing that I've forgotten about that I need to fit into my decor, RIGHT NOW. De-cluttering is going slowly, but the house is looking cute :)
