The other Tracey went on an out of town trip and brought me back a charming new couple for my cake top collection. (How nice was that?!) They so remind me of John and Jacquelin Kennedy.(although I do think her dress is a little lower cut than Jackie might have chosen...) I love her sweet puffy skirt and veil.
I guess wedding cake topper collections are kind of a bittersweet thing now that I think about it. I mean, I always wonder how the wedding topper ended up in a thrift shop or antique fair. Are the couple both long gone now, and their family didn't care to keep this treasure, or was it not happily ever after, after all?
Regardless of how they got where they were when I ended up with them, I will cherish them always, and all that they stand for.

Charming gift Tracey!I too wonderf of the fate of the couple who cut the cake this couple stood upon. Very interesting to think about! A sweet treasure!~Smiles~Tam!

I would never be able to give something up that was a part of my wedding. Or anything else that is a memory maker. How wonderful you are collecting lost memories!

The most beautiful I think I've ever seen. Almost makes me want to start a collection. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tracey!
I too have a wedding cake topper collection....which I came upon when I had a "Vintage Bridal Shower" for my girlfriend a few years back. I also collected wedding pictures, wedding albums and portraits for the event in addition to bridesmaids hats, a few dresses, gloves, etc. Like you, I often wondered how they all ended up in thrift shops, on Ebay, etc. Looking at the pictures especially was a favorite activity. Thanks for the special reminder of a very special day with my friends....

Regardless of what happened to the couple, they represent a wonderful day in the lives of real people! I think that's what makes them so special.

I used to work in a cake shop so I love cake toppers. Especially vintage ones. And I agree that this couple looks like John and Jackie. How many do you have? What do the rest of the toppers look like?

Not only cake toppers but I wonder how all kinds of things end up in a thrift store. Mimi

now you will have to do a post with all the request. would love to see all you have. a movie about where the couples ended up would be a great idea. have you thought about writing? you could do it if anyone can.

oooh i just had a great idea..i LOVE the toppers dress.....i used the bottom of my dress as christening gowns for the kids..and in the future ring bearer pillows...but wouldnt it be great for the topper to have a vintage hanky, piece of dress ...of a member of the family....
i'll have to file that away..and i'd love to meet the collection...a cake topper fashion show maybe???

That low cut dress is hilarious! I didn't even notice until you mentioned it and then my eyes about popped out of my head.
Whatever the circumstances may have been for those little couples they have a great home now :)
