Not sure if it's the cold weather or the holiday season (or maybe the fact that Moose is so intuitive that he realizes Mr. Bear is now in his twilight years, and he kind of worries about him and feels the need to look after him a bit) that has sparked Moose to want to be closer to Bear, literally, but he has taken to squeezing himself into bed with Bear the past few weeks. Now, for those of you who are not "dog people", let me just explain...little dogs will share beds. All the time. They like to do that. Big dogs..notsomuch. They are big after all, and it's just not as easy. Or comfortable.
My big boys each have their own beds, on either side of my bed and when the lights go out, they both are in their respective beds, snoring peacefully, dreaming of Cesar Millan...That is, until about three weeks ago.
That's when I noticed one morning as I was getting ready for my grown up girl job, that he had managed to join Bear in his bed for a little after-breakfast-but-before-we-have-to-go-outside-for-the-day nap. I thought it looked so uncomfortable,(and he changed positions repeatedly, just trying to get comfortable, each time waking Bear) and yet it was so sweet to see (well, as sweet as any two 100 pound dogs can look, squished into a single dog bed) how he clearly loves ol' Bear and wanted to be near him. Or maybe he was just trying to warm his toes on an exceptionally cold morning.
Either way, it was sweet.
To me at least.

I have a large chocolate lab and he loves to cuddle up to me when he gets a chance...and when I'm not available, my husband will do! Maybe we need another big dog! Thanks for sharing--it really is so sweet! Also, thanks for the home tour and best wishes on the job front. I left a job this year and found a new one, but it's not nearly the same money. Thankfully, God is still providing what we need...like home tours! Thanks!

Hi! Thank you for generously sharing your beautiful home and creative decorating ideas! We have two big dogs, a lab and retriever, our lab is the cuddle bug! Your dogs are sweet, I understand the "dog stuff", I'm a dog person too! Merry Christmas to you and a very Happy New Year!

What a sweet picture! I have an older dog and 1 1/2 year old blonde lab, and I just love watching them together. I think dogs make the best companions. They love us unconditionally and are always happy to see us. Have a great Friday,
Debi

How precious! I've seen my big lab squeeze on top of my dachshund's bed before. It's a sight to see. Mine snuggle on a blanket all the time. And snore!!

what a sweet friendship they have.

I have been wanting to be our Roxy a dogbed like this...and the story reminds me of our golden..she was 15 years old when she passed last year..the pups look like they're in the womb. So sweet.

Precious! There is something so simple about the love of a dog, whether it be their love for their human or the love they have for their sibling...raw, emotional love. This is just the sweetest picture, I think it speaks to me, because I used to have two bigs dogs that slept curled up together in their kennel and their dog house, so tightly wound...i always thought it was the most preciouso thing! :)
Thank you for sharing~

I have three English bulldogs and they always have to be touching when they are sleeping. Warmth and comfort.
Your dogs are beautiful!

I'm looking at my 2 Golden Retrievers sleeping the same way right now. What a darling photo of your pups!
Take care,

It IS sweet! I cannot believe they fit together in one of those beds. That is so Moose to squeeze right in there. He always has thought that he was a tiny dog afterall.

I too have big dogs and they usually keep to themselves when sleeping as well. I would be surprised (like you) to find them sharing a bed. But what an adorable picture. Lucky you were able to take it! Best of wishes to you. I love your blog.

That is just too precious for words! That will be a keepsake picture for certain. I only have 1 dog now, and he loves to jump in bed in the morning after hubs leaves for work to soak up some extra warmth and "mommy time" with me... (that involves bell rubs and smooches for the dog!)
Love your blog and remember you in prayers for blessings in the job front.

Awww, how sweet! It looks like they are both making an effort to share the bed. My little dogs won't share a bed. Hubby's chi comes out from the covers, like the Tazmanian devil, if ANYBODY disturbs her.
Thansk for hosting the holiday tour Tracey! I had so much fun & look forward to the cookie exchange but it will be this weeeknd before I can send in a pic.

Oh Tracey, that is such a sweet picture. It was not just sweet to you as you can see by the comments! Always share your sweet special moments, because they will be shared by others. Thank you for sharing this....gives us all something to smile about, the true love of dogs. So basic. So lovely. So heartwarming. Merry Christmas! ~Cheryl

Way to cute and you have to know by now your "groupies" like what you like.We lost our 13 yr chocolate lab 3 yrs ago to an accident(our farmer neighbor and friend ran over him and he just sobbed) so needless to say I miss him every day and your photos made mine. I am a flight attendant(a job I love) and we just can't get another as much as we both travel so thx for sharing. I just want to let out one big giant "awww!" That really is just so cute.
Thank you so much for including me in the Holiday Tour. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed seeing everyone else's homes. Thanks for putting it together. You're the best!
P.S. I just love Cesar!

Awwww!! Love it. About the only other dog my weenie dog Oscar cares to associate with awake or asleep is Maggie his mini weenie friend. We have a 1 year old black lab mix Smokey who idolizes Marley our great pyrenees. Wants to be right next to Marley at all times. I think Marley could care less, but he's a good babysitter :)
Thanks for sharing the sweet pic!

This is just what my younger Boxer does with our senior citizen Boxer. It is the sweetest thing, that is until grandpa boxer gets fed up and snaps at the youngin. Dogs just bring so much happiness.

How cute are your dogs?!! I have two English Springer Spaniels and they are just like this, one day I caught them taking a nap on the floor, butt to butt! I love them dearly. Suzie

Oh I am a dog lover and that is so sweet! My Lily would love to snuggle with a pal... besides snuggling up to all of us. She really thinks she is a lap dog and we continue to remind her that she isn't.
Happy Holidays to your loved dogs.

Some dogs, (not all) are very intuitive. My mom's english setter knew when she was ill and would sleep up beside her head instead of at the foot of the bed.
It may well be that she realizes your older dog needs to be cared for!

Oh Tracey: now THAT is just a "basketful of pooch-er-oo adorable"! I'd compliment further, but, my pint-sized yorkie is sitting right beside me and I think he's proof-reading my copy & guarding my every word with a jealous eye!! :o)
"Two For The Road" Blessings this night Tracey,
Barbra......oh and Mr. Brodie too! :o)

Those two are too cute for words! It's so sweet to see them snuggling and how Bear is obviously peeved yet tolerating Moose in his bed- now that's friendship.
Happy Holidays!
~Rachel
(Bear looks so much like my dog, Ramsey, I had growing up- boy I miss that dog.)

You know, I AM a dog person, but presently without dogs... I do have three cats and a horse, though, and two of the cats do much the same thing as your dear boys. The big Maine Coon "Star" snuggles next to elderly tiger-striped "Binx". Cats, unless they're sibblings, aren't much for cuddling with each other either, but I think Star is a bit protective of dear old Binx. We could learn a thing or two from our animal family members, I think...

This is so cute...We brought a jack russel home 4 years ago and to this day she hasn't acknowledged the yorkie is even here. I would love if mine would bond like this.

Oh that is the cutest post I have seen in ages. My dog won't even "share" the neighborhood, let alone her bed, LOL. No off leash for my gal.
Amazing pictures! Karen

That is so sweet- I've always had big dogs, and they may have slept NEAR each other- I never saw them cuddle like that- and if I had, I would have run for the camera- what a precious picture!
