Ooh! Aren't these the sweeeeetest little skates ever?! I think they're positively yummy, that's what.
Of course, in the beginning, they were just an ordinary pair of old children's ice skates.(Have you got some of these laying around?) You can see the well worn spots, and they appear to have been quite loved. I changed out the old shoelaces for vintage seam tape and added some pearlecent glitter here and there ...and a pink glitter star.
(Can't you just see these a focal point in a snowy centerpiece on a dining table,on an old vintage basket in an entryway, or hanging over the foot board of a bed in a romantic bedroom?)
Mmmmm, too sweet for words.

The are beautiful!!

Can't you just see these a focal point -- nope. I think I spent too much time at the rink but well loved skates = sweaty stinky in my mind.

And what is best about them is that they are appropriate decor until spring!

Those are cute. You know what else would be cute? Old fashioned baby clodhopper shoes, foofed up in much the same way, hanging on a nursery bedroom or doorknob...whatcha think?
BTW, where do you get your hair cut? I am always drawn to you pic. Like the look and shape of the cut!

Oh how I wish I had your gift for spotting gems. I would look at those skates and ship them off to GW for someone like you to find and make into something amazing. I know envy is a sin, but your blog makes it sooo hard to be good. Those skates look divine.

I love your skates! I scooped up a pair of children's skates this summer and have done some magic with them. I really like how you foofied yours up though! Too cute! My mother-in-law found some skates as well earlier this summer outside of a KFC so she grabbed them. :) I'm going to show her this post for an idea on what to do with them. Great job!

Tracey, thank you for bringing out these skates! I have my skates from when I was 10 and they are in a glass cabinet in my shabby chic office.....In 34 years of decorating for Christmas, I never once thought of bringing them out to display! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the idea. I will take a pic and display on my blog if you don't mind. A picture worth journaling about. Please stop by and visit if you have a chance. I am going to add you to my "inspirations" list
Merry Christmas! ~Cheryl

I love the skates. What a super idea. I used to have a pair of roller shoe skates. I got them when I was in high school and was going skating almost every night. Wish I still had them. I kept them for a long time but finally got rid of them. Rats. Why did I keep them for so many years just to do away with them right before I needed them.
Looking forward to the Virtual tour tomorrow.

These are great! I just bought a pair similar last week, and the idea of the seam tape for shoelaces is perfect. Now I can get them displayed on my front porch. I wasn't liking the shoe laces as is, and wanted something subtle which the seam binding tape provides. Thanks for sharing!
Love the fur added too on the more recent post. You are on a roll!
