When is an early Mother's day gift the best Christmas present you'll ever get?
Well...before I tell you, let me begin at the beginning.(I actually was trying to wait to do this post until the day before Mother's day, but I just can't wait a single. minute. longer. I fear I will burst)
The newest newlywed is a planner by nature. Always has been. Born on her due date, not crazy about surprises, makes lists. Doesn't lose them.
She thinks things completely through, every move is a purposeful decision, big or small. By her own definition, she's a "planner". Definitely not one to simply "wing it" or fly by the seat of her pants, like her older sister, and younger brother.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she isn't adventuresome; quite the contrary. She's my cutie patootie that's a world traveler, (even going to Morocco while living in Spain, shortly after 9/11 when I told her not to go) and the one who invited her baby brother to get tattooed together. (much to my horror) What I am saying is that those things were well thought out, and carefully planned, even if they were not Mom approved.
She's the middle child, so she's used to sharing, and compromising, and not necessarily getting to be the center of attention all that often. Seldom does she get the opportunity to be the "first", and she's fine with that.
I think that's what makes this all the more special. It's her time, their time, to bask in the thrill of being first, on both sides of the family, and share their joy and excitement with the entire family.
So, I'll pose the question again.
"When is an early Mother's day gift the best Christmas present you'll ever get?"
That's easy. It's when they give you one of these.
After all the squealing and jumping and hugging I did in Chili's restaurant when they gave me this fabulous little present, I did some quick math. (With my birthday in December, and my son's birthday in December, it wasn't all that hard.)
They laughingly admitted that with all of the planning, the due date was the one thing that they never even thought about. They just knew they wanted to start their family right away, so the planning began.
*Sigh* I can't think of a better Christmas present in the whole. wide. world.

Such perfect news.... congratulations!!!! I'm so pleased for you

Enjoy! Being a grandma really is special and so different from being a mom. I am thoroughly enjoying it - it has only been 7 weeks since our Hannah was born! What fun but also such an emotionally exciting time that I never fully comprehended before. It's the best!

Oh, wow, Tracey!!! A big huge congrats to you and your daughter and son-in-law! That's terrific news! :o)
I have to say, being the mother of all boys, I absolutely dream of the day when they marry, start their family, and I selfishly have the chance to "mother" a baby girl. Not that I'll terribly disappointed if we end up with all grandsons, but, hey, what's the chance of that happening???
Again, congratulations to you and your family. What a wonderful surprise present!

That is some wonderful news. I know that you have been wanting those grandbabies for a while and now you will be getting one at Christmas. How exciting. When I told my mom that I was pregnant (15 yrs. ago) I gave her a brag book. The look on her face was priceless. Since I am an only child (and have an only child) she was very excited. I am happy for you!

Congrats, Congrats, Congrats!!!
I am a grandma to 3 and half! G-babe #4 is due at the end of July. Every year we get a new grandbaby LOL They are so much fun. Everyone says more fun than having your own, but I have to say that being a Mom was my best fun job ever! So, being a Nanna is great but still second.
Looking forward to all those neat ideas you will come up with for the baby shower. I am ordering your templates (one of my daughters has PayPal and she is doing it for me for Mother's Day!).

Oh yes that is wonderful news!! I remember telling my mother-in-law about our last baby - we gave her the pregnancy test wrapped up - on April 1st. She thought it was a joke until she looked at my face. I wasn't too excited since my 2nd baby was only 7 months old at the time. I had been telling her oh no I'm not pregnant - not for a long time. Guess I was wrong. Too funny!

Tracey, I'm so happy for you. David and I had been married 1 week and 1 day when my daughter and SIL gave us the news in a restaurant that after 7 years of being married (and 2 years of "trying") they were expecting! The next month we found out it was twins! The month after that we found out a boy and girl....heaven on earth, let me tell you!!! The little angels will be 4 on May 21st so our world has really changed. This is certainly a new chapter in your life, one you will marvel at and soak up....how can such a little thing take up so much room in your heart. Can't wait to see all the new ideas you will come up with for this precious gift from heaven.
