Puddle jumpers

April_showers_puddle_jumpers_2      Ever since the day I first had lunch at Ms. Crafty's, I've been on the hunt for a pair of galoshes. New or thrifted. Red, black, blue, solid or print, whatever. They just had to be two things: Cute and cheap.

Huh? What did you ask?

Why would I be looking for galoshes?!

Um.... hellooooo? April showers? (And, yes, I am aware that Reno doesn't actually have more than about 3 rainy days a year- just one of the many perks of living in the high desert)

You got it. They make the perfect April porch decoration, of course.

Ms. Crafty spotted these for me at Mervyn's on clearance! She got a very-Mary-Engebreit-y looking pair for herself with red cherries on them. The black with white polka-dots were too cute for me to pass up. I bought them in my size so I can wear them, (OK, we all know I most likely won't wear them, unless I were to have a pipe break in my kitchen or something...but...I've learned to never say never) or use them to decorate with...so versatile.
      Aren't they fabulous?

Those are so adorable! They look so cute next to the black door!

I never knew Reno didn't get much rain!

It just doesn't seem fair that some folks have such an extraordinary "eye"! Why in the world would someone look at rain boots and see a "vase" for a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers?! Not fair I tell you, just not fair! Ha! As long as you don't mind me "borrowing" your ideas I suppose I can live with it! (Keep the ideas coming...you're helping my house sweeten' up nicely)!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

They are darling. (Of course!)

Too cute!

Blessings,

Sher

very sweet....adorable idea!

I love what you did with the rain boots. What a clever idea. I just stumbled upon your blog and I love what you did with the wedding. I am hosting a birthday for my husbands 80 yr. old grandmother in July do you have any ideas for table decor? I will be using old photos in frames and white roses but have come up with nothing else...uuuggghhh the pressure. I have family coming in from 4 other states so it has to be impressive. I can do a mean childrens birthday party but this one has me stumped. Thanks and great blog Paula

Who else but you to use a utilitarian item in such a crafty way? How adorable....I gave me granddaughter a pink pair but I think she's outgrown them....wouldn't the same idea be cute with children's galoshes in front of a little girl's playhouse?

Very Sweet!!

The boots go so nicely with your door, and the flowers are sweet. Pretty.

Who would've thought? Boots on the doorstep for flowers! I love the idea. If you head up this way you can use them. ~Adrienne~

Too cute! I can't wait to get to Mervyns and see if I can get some. Thanks for sharing.

Well, if you ever move to Portland, you will use them more than you'll want to. Speaking from someone who lives in the Willamette Valley.

Those are adorable!! I live in an apartment and am kind of jealous I don't have a doorstep to display a similar thing... but I might put them just inside my doorway to brighten up the entrance :) Thanks!!

Fabulous!

I'm in agreement with what Joyce said! Not fair, but ok if you allow copycats! =)

Super cute idea! Love the polka dots. The last time I was in Reno it was raining! Well, actually it was kind of sleet/slush/rain. But that's close!

Would Miss Crafty be interested in getting me a pair of cherry boots and mailing them to me?
We don't have a Mervyns here and I LOOOOOOOOVE cherries!
I would be very very much in debted forever!

Hugz, Dolly

Totally love it!
Wouldn't you know, I've been keeping my eyes open for a pair of green or orange rain boots to fill an empty corner of my bathroom... I found some on ebay, but my dear husband wasn't sufficiently convinced to get them for me!
The vase is such a good idea!

Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading your blog...I hope you know how strong you really are despite some major heartbreaks and how much inspiration you bring into the lives of others by being so brave to share your life with others...not to mention the absolutely gorgerous ideas you come up with!!!! I love this idea and we get tons of rain in my area(VA)...in fact it's rainy today...i'm off to find a pair today!!!!

I am so tickled by these! They are the cutest and your creativity and knack for sweet and whimsical never ceases to amaze me! Come check out my spring luncheon table cards I have started....I need your opinion!

....they'll be perfect for Portland--9 months out of the year! ;-)

ANOTHER GREAT IDEA!

~elaine~

oh so beautiful! :) what a fun idea :D

My sister, who gives me all her cast-offs, just gave me a pair of bright pink galoshes. I was wondering what in the world I would do with them...then I see your pix! Thanks for the idea!!

Tracy! I have the same iron grate and the same basekt but Shhhh don't tell the Longenburger die-hearts, I painted it red!!!

our front porch is a bit out dated Love the black door!1 Time to do some serious change ups. Thank you for the inspiration.
