I totally meant to post last Friday and then on Saturday, but time just was slip sliding on by me at record speed. I've been oh, so busy on some to-much-fun-for-words projects! Mmmm hmmm...
So, without further delay, here is a little, eensy, weensy peek at one of the projects.(I know some folks don't believe anyone should paint wood, but pul-ease. These chairs were so not working for me unpainted.)
They are for the upcoming Cotillion, (mark your calendars!!)and I am loving the look of them so far. Yup, there are two of these chairs, exactly alike, with perfect upholstery (are you noticing the original, in mint condition little wooden wheels? Too charming!)...
Oh, and I also scored a (soon-to-be) equally darling table that I found early Saturday morning at a high school rummage sale. I am doing the table up to match the chairs, natch. (I'll share the table later...typepad won't cooperate this morning!)
The Sewing Queen of northern Nevada is whipping me up some fabulous toile pillows with yummy fabric I found at the $2 Fabric Store! (feather filled no less!) with half inch knife pleat ruffles (a darling coordinating stripe we found at WalMart for the fabulous price of $2.50 a yard!) to lay on the chairs....
...Man, I love me some toile. Love it, love it, Love. It. (Never can get enough of it, especially in Robin's egg blue.)
*sigh* I'll share the completed project, just as soon as I get the finished pillows from the Queen Mum. (Hey, wait a minute!!! Mom, is that you, reading this? You should be sewing!!!!)

Looking fantabulous!! I love the toile and the coordinating stripe...ooh la la!
Have a super Monday;)

Beautiful! How do you get rid of these chairs, they are so great, it would be hard for me not to keep them, especially with the pillows your mama is making, how lucious. Can't wait to see the whole ensemble.

Oh, I know it's okay to paint wood. Really I do. But why is it I feel like I am defacing something when I do? My dad was an upholsterer for over 40 years and built beautiful handcrafted furniture. He is a wood stain kind of guy. Maybe that's where I get it from. And also the fact he shakes his head every time he sees that I have painted something... lol!

Wow, you are good Tracey. You painted those chairs and didn't get ANY paint on the fabric? Amazing. I'm more of a sloppy painter and wouldn't have been able to pull that one off!!
Can't wait to see the finished products :)
Blessings,
Sher

I have a couch that I had upholstered and then regretted that I didn't paint it. I'm excited to see that you painted with the upholstery. Do you have any pointers for me? Can you also please share your paint colors and any instructions you can. Love all your postings....thank you!! Alice

Those chairs are going to be PERFECT! Aren't you tempted to want to keep them?
What color of paint and glaze did you use and how did you get the paint so smooth? It looks airbrushed. I would like to do the same technique on my raised panel doors to age them. Right, now they're white and they look too bright.

The chair is fabulous...can't wait to see the total end result!!
Could you please share with us the step by step process to achieve the look of the wood...pretty please. (When I was 21, first apartment, I purchased some used ORANGE upholstered Lincoln & Mary chairs... I scrimped & saved to have them re-upholstered in a creamy textured fabric. Fast forward 20 years later, and I desperately want to paint the dark wood with your paint/glaze technique)I would love to try my hand at it, but I'm concerned about painting around the upholstery. Hope to hear all about your painting technique soon. All the Best!
