For everyone that asked, I am going to share my "recipe" for the Robin's egg blue paint.(thanks so much for all of the compliments yesterday!!) I didn't start out with this color blue paint. Oh no. I bought one shade of paint and it was too blue. Bought another...too green. I mixed them...a little of this, a little more of that. I came up with this color and took the painted stir stick in to Home Depot when I ran out of the paint and had it mixed to match. It's Behr Brand, and I always buy eggshell finish, except for the paint I used on the kitchen walls and in the bathroom, where I used semi-gloss.(Oh, and on my kitchen and bathroom walls I also added 1/3 part white paint to lighten it up.) The dresser I shared yesterday was then antiqued my usual way in a tobacco glaze.
Anyway, you asked. Here's the answer:
Tracey's Robin's egg blue Behr Brand eggshell finish paint (Quart sized) used on bedrooms, etc. and furniture
COLORANT OZ 48 96
Lamp black 0 7 1
Thalo Green 0 4 0
Med. Yellow 0 2 1
Tracey's Robin's egg blue Behr Brand semi-gloss finish paint (Quart sized) used on furniture if you prefer and on the bathroom and kitchen walls
COLORANT OZ 48 96
Lamp black 0 5 0
Thalo Green 0 1 1
Med. Yellow 0 2 1
Now, back to work!....busy, busy busy! Not much time to chat today. Preparing the shipping labels for gift wrapping kits and tagging items for the Cotillion. Just stopped long enough to share the paint recipe and a picture of some of my booth items

Oh my gosh! I have that bedside table on the left and always wondered what it would look like painted!!! That table and matching dresser were hand me downs from DH's parents. I really REALLY loathe the brown, but the shape is nice. Did this one come with the shiny coat mine has? If so, how the heck did you get it off? Thanks so much for the inspiration, if I ever have a garage these are being painted straight away.

Tracey, once again, THANK YOU for your willingness to always share your wealth of information and knowledge. I love that paint color too. I see that table posted yesterday is in the "sell pile." So I guess you decided to sell it afterall. If you have no room, it's probably the best to sell and get the $$$$!!
Have fun at the first Annual Tumbleweed Cotillion this weekend. I know it will be a huge success. I only wish Michigan wasn't so far. . . I'd be in attendance in a New York minute!
Blessings!

I wish I was going to be there, I see somethings I'd like. Off to quilt market next week, so no time for a road trip. Dang.

Tracey,
Thanks so much for sharing your special Robin's egg blue paint recipe! You've inspired me to give it a try along with the antiquing method.
Hope the first annual Tumbleweed Cottillion this weekend is a huge success and a delightful experience. You've done such a wonderful job preparing everything for it--- and your booth items are magnificent. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks for sharing the paint formula for the perfect Robin's Egg blue paint. Maybe you can post a link to your paint formula and tips on painting furniture on your side bar.
You have chosen items with great bones to paint and glaze. I can't imagine you not selling everything.

What a beautiful color! Thank you for the recipe! Two questions. I brought the info you gave to Home Depot and they said they needed to know (#1) the size this formula is for (gallon or quart?), and (#2) which base you used (clear, pastel, white, etc.) Could you please share this info, as well? It would be much appreciated. I'm thinking of doing my laundry room in this color and can't wait to try it! Thanks in advance!

The size of my cans were quarts and the base was pastel. I have never heard of a clear base. Hope this helps your Home Depot guy...he sounds new!

I love your blog and all your great photos and thanks so much for the furniture painting tips. I have a question- do you prime then sand or sand then prime. I always thought it was sand then prime. Also, I have an old (my childhood) furniture set from ethan allen. Very cute, but the yellow is not my girls favorite. The top is a laminated formica type top in yellow. I thought I could paint the base of the dresser and desk and end table, but not sure what to do with the top. Any ideas?

Hello! Merry Christmas! I stumbled across your blog and I am just amazed by you and your work! Wowza! You remind me of a place called "Nell Hill" by my home. Bravo! What talent!
I typed in "Robins egg paint color" because I am painting this in a long dark hallway and your blog came up!
I have a question...is the 1/3 white in addition to the formula please? And if yes (which I think it is), what white was it please?
I really appreciate your willingness to be so giving of the beauty you discovered.
Best Regards to you,
Jennifer

Thanks so much for sharing your recipe. I found a robin's egg and did my own color-matching, but I am going to try out your recipe for one of my art studio walls. Great work!

I went into Home Depot today to have this paint mixed up and they said that they reformulated all of their bases and no longer have a pastel base. Have you gone in to have this paint made recently? If so would you share the new formula - I am most interested in the paint used on the dresser.
Thanks so much!

Just had the "perfect" blue paint made up last week at Home Depot. I had the attendant at the store make the paint from a white base. It looks exactly like the color posted on this blog. Thanks so much for sharing this color. Our bedroom looks beautiful and feels serene. So grateful. This color looks beautiful with my favorite ceiling color called "Linen Tint." Porter Paints makes this and I use Sherwin Williams ceiling paint. The ceiling color creates a very calming affect. FYI I have found that Linen Tint to be the perfect ceiling color. I get compliments on my ceilings all the time. It is a very warm color and does not cast a gray hue to the room.

Hi, I had the same problem as Lynn. Apparently Behr no longer makes a pastel base. They have an ultra white or medium base, but I didn't know which would be closer.
Is your recipe different now, since the base is different?
Thanks! I know this is an old thread but I recently 'discovered' you and your paint color and really want to paint a couple pieces. Thank you!

Oh, and also they (home depot) didn't have any other brand with a pastel base and Lowe's can't use home depots formula :-(
