I found the "Before" photos of the backyard, but for some reason I only have pictures of the patio. (These photos were taken by some Realtor long before I bought my cottage, and you can tell by the lack of rose bushes that it must have been winter time.) Hmm, not much help for showing all the work I've done.Oh well. Here they are anyway. (I have removed the dead tree trunk in the middle of the yard that held one end of a hammock)
Please excuse the hose all over the place and the left hand shutter not being hung. I was in the middle of all this when I realized how late it was, and I had to hop in the shower for work, so I just snapped these quick shots to share with you.I am still needing to remove the iron grill from the one back window also...
Last night I got the coffee table and side table painted my favorite color- Robins egg blue. It matches the quilt accents very nicely. Now, all that's left to paint is the hutch.
I am enjoying tending my garden more than I can tell you. I am out there each morning before I go to work, and each evening as well, watering and fertilizing and such. Instant gratification I tell you.
I have flowers in pots, around the patio, and around the yard. It is so gratifying!
Next summer I will tackle the front yard, which is smaller but needs some cottage touches as well. Oh, I can hardly wait!

Tracey, you have a green thumb and a golden touch! It's absolutely beautiful!I'm wondering...will your grass be as green in a month, when the heat arrives in Reno?!!!!
Can't wait till Saturday, my friend!

Oh wow, this is GORGEOUS!! I'm so jealous of all of that sunshine---I live on a super-shady lot, so no roses for me. I will just have to look at your photos frequently to get my fix :)

Tracey, it is soo charming. You did a wonderful job. I am bit envious, we have too much rain, I could not set out everything the way you did. Enjoy it !!!! Clarice

Wow, even the grass is greener since you moved in! Very beautiful. The roses are stunning. What brand/color paint did you use? I love the shade of blue!

Looks great! I would love to sit out there and relax in the evening. Your grass is so lush and your flowers, especially the roses, are just gorgeous! I'm so ingorant about plants, but next year we're tackling our yard. I'll have to learn what will grow in the shade in the South.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! The color I painted the tables is called Celtic Gray by Behr. #490E-3 (it's like a robin's egg blue)and I used Exterior Satin finish.

You have worked wonders with your yard. It went from blech, to charming. I love everything about it. The french doors make a HUGE difference as do the exterior and interior shutters. Just looking at your pictures makes me feel so calm. Are you in a wooded area? It looks like a well established neighborhood by the look of the trees.
We just had a new porch added to our house and I had the builder move the hose spicket off the porch. It really makes a big difference not having the hose constantly in the way.

WOW! What a difference! Your cottage patio is just lovely. I wish I had your green thumb, but, sadly, I am a plant murderer. I love your blog. I check it out all the time...waiting to see what new, wonderful thing you've done to turn your ordinary house in to a charming country cottage.
