We took a bit of a side trip late Sunday afternoon to browse through some shops on my getaway trip last weekend in Portland.
Actually in Camas, WA; right next to Vancouver WA.
There is one darling little
street in the teeny tiny downtown with the dearest shops ever. It was truly a hidden hot spot.
Next
time I go I will take more pictures, but here are a few pictures I was able to snap in just the few minutes we were there (Sunday afternoon at 4:40 is not the time to start shopping.)
For starters, take a look at this vintage looking bookcase.(So cute I had to take pictures from two angles)Now, is this not the most fabulous, and cheap idea? I love the yellowed pages decoupaged to the bookcase.
There was an oh-so-cute shop that was closed on Sundays. It's called called "Fancies". Now, any shop named "Fancies" has got to be cute. (Oh, I just can't wait to go back when they are open!)
This sweet little street in downtown Camas was just like something out of Mitford,or Stars Hollow I tell you. It had a quaint diner, darling clothes shops, and Antique shops too.
Oh! And it even had an Automotive repair center named...are you ready for this?... Lemon-Aid Automotive. (Get it? Very Gilmore Girls...) The only thing missing was a Cupcake Bakery.
*sigh* I mean it, I was ready to move, right then and there.

How neat! Thanks for sharing your trip :) I want to go there too now :)
Have a bee swarm on my blog today:0)

Tracey I could not have gone throughout my day without knowing that somewhere in the world some brilliant person has an auto repair shop called LEMON-AID AUTOMOTIVE. It renews my faith in mankind as thinking and mirthful people. Rejoice! I love the yellow pages bookcase too. Smart display.

If you had seen Luke's Diner or a Dragonfly Inn, I would have been on a cross country trip in an instant!

Oh, I always tell everyone that I want to live in Stars Hollow! I knew there must be a real place like that somewhere!

Too sweet; and to find out these shops and Mothers is right in my own back yard, who knew? Not me. I cannot wait until I can explore both of these great places. Have you any more gems of the northwest to share?

Okay, what's the name of the shop with the darling bookcase? I just might have to drive up to Camas and check it out!
Also, past Camas there is a woman who has occasional sales at her country home- she used to have a store out in Gaston and was featured in (I think) BH&G. It's called Willow Nest (www.willownest.net) and just now, when I looked at her website, she says she was featured in the March 2007 issue of Country Home. Her next sale is Saturday, June 23- you should check it out (or maybe you already have, you smart cookie).

Hey! I live there! Yes, downtown Camas is darling.....as long as you stay away from the mill end. We moved here 4 yrs ago from Portland and we LOVE it!
I was forwarded your blog from Cindy at Romantic home. She forwarded your entry about Camas.
I'll have to read a bit more to see where you're from.
